Lisa Marie Presley: The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree

It was never going to be easy to live up to the legacy of her famous father, but Lisa Marie Presley has done a pretty great job so far. Born in 1968 to Priscilla Presley and the king of rock’n’roll Elvis, Lisa Marie inherited the whole estate after Elvis died when she was just nine.
Though it would have been easy to let the money go to her head, Lisa Marie struck out on her own and carved out an impressive music career of her own. Since 2003 she has released three albums including To Whom it May Concern, acclaimed critically for an uncompromising bluesey style.
This was followed up by Now What and Storm & Grace, both of which performed well commercially and helped the singer to make a name for herself that was nothing to do with her father.
Back in 2007 Lisa Marie also released a truly unique single, and one which shot straight into the No 1 slot on the iTunes download chart. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of her father’s death, Lisa Marie recorded a duet of one of his most famous tracks, In The Ghetto. Proceeds from the track also benefited one of the Presley family’s charitable ventures a Presley Place Transitional Housing Campus in New Orleans.
