Detroit High School Basketball Coach Shoots Student Dead 

A 70-year-old high school basketball coach is being held by police after he shot dead a 16-year-old male student and injured another, when they allegedly tried to mug him outside their Detroit school on Friday night. Local reports named Michael Scott as the student who was fatally shot while the name of the coach and the other victim at the Martin Luther King Jr School shooting haven't been released. WXYZ Action News said the shooting took place at around 7.30pm on Friday following a basketball game at the school on East Lafayette Boulevard.
